Daughters if the Nile is a benevolent international fraternal organization for women 18 years and older who are related by birth or marriage to a Shriner/Master Mason/ Daughter of the Nile. Founded in 1913 by 22 progressive women with Strength of purpose and vision. Daughters of the Nile boasts 147 temples throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The 32,000 members of the Daughters of the Nile are proud of their heritage and are grateful to the Shrine of North America for allowing them to assist with the patients at the Shriners Hospital for children. The deep and lifelong friendships that develop within the membership in our three countries provide a value that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. It is a privilege to belong to the Daughters of the Nile.Our philanthropic purpose is to support the Supreme Temple, Daughters of the Nile Foundation through the Convalescent Endowment Fund and Convalescent Relief Account.This foundation is a public charity with the mission of maintaining a permanent endowment fund to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. Working together for the children, we use all monetary donations to promote, support and maintain the charitable endeavors that enhance the medical care and treatment of the patients in the Shriners Hospitals for Children. We contribute to the Foundation through individual and corporate donations, will and bequests and various donor programs. Hathor Temple No.38, Sioux City, IA was chartered January 12, 1928. Named for the ancient Goddess of Love and Joy, Symbolizing the true meaning of the organization. Love for the Sisterhood of women and Joy that we bring to the Shriners’ Children by our charitable work.
